Translation:

This guys has too much work on his hands and has had poor experience trying to outsource it to India.....BUT he still wants to have his cake and eat too....so he is hoping to find some local sucker to treat as his code monkey slave.

Good luck!

I am looking for a part-time or full-time assistant matching the following criteria:

- knowledge of Java or C#

- solid grasp of programming fundamentals

- willingness to work under close supervision

- interest in learning (or practicing) Flash / ActionScript under direction of an experienced programmer

- strong work ethic

The work will involve adding features to a code base for an AS3 app resembling PowerPoint. It looks pretty, is easy to test and provides a good sense of progress with the addition of every new feature since it's basically an elaborate user interface.

Portfolio or resume is not required. Brains definitely are. I will not ask you to make architectural changes by yourself but I will routinely say "write 60 lines of code doing so-and-so string and array related algorithm" or "write event handlers to synchronize behavior of several gui widgets so-and-so".

If you want, I will pay a (relatively small) hourly rate. If you do a stellar job I may also be able to get you a formal summer internship doing similar things. And you will definitely get good grasp of what it means to write your very own GUI app in AS3.

Location-wise, I would prefer working with people in the Boston area even though in some cases we may work remotely once the work process is settled. This in particularly applies to the payment issue - when paying by the hour I want to see you work that hour in person.

Compensation: learn what it's like working for an ass hat

Location: Boston, MA
